We all know special occasion girl dresses come in all styles and colors, but with the information age what we may not have known is just how many styles and colors we have available. The fashion industry has always been there. Its just that 'WE' haven't. If you don't live in New York and L. A. chances are the styles you first come across in your local bridal store are last season, or even last year and only from the one or two select manufacturers with whom they do business. With the explosion of Super Walmarts and Targets one has less and less of an opportunity to shop for specialty boutique dresses that cost more than the mass produced cookie cutter frock. In the real world if you leave your house looking for that perfect little girl special occasion dress you will see maybe 10% of the styles released within a year.
The online shopping experience solves all this limitation! Here you have access to every style from every city in every price range. However, knowing what you want is half the battle. So here, we'll start with the basics. |
The Flower Girl Dresses
Flower Girls are usually between the ages of 4 - 10 and wear a dress that compliments the color scheme of the bride or bridesmaids. Usually the flower girls don't match the dress of the bridesmaid because it is more acceptable to have a dress that is age appropriate. The most common dress for a flower girl is a white gown, sometimes with a colored sash. In our store 60% of all flower girl dresses sold for wedding parties are pure white.
- The white garden petal dress is a simple cut dress with a sealed layer of tulle netting stuffed with flower petals floating along the hem of the skirt. This is often the most popular style with flower petals ranging in color from white, pink, lilac, sage, blue, or golden.
- Satin A-Line dresses are a cut for a formal fitting look. The A-line gown usually comes with a matching shawl and is a bit more mature of a look while maintaining simple lines for a child's cut.
- The miniature luxe bride theme is a popular choice. Many times a little girl is dressed to match the bride. Although one may not find an exact match to a wedding dress, it is common to look into the communion collection for a close mini brides dress. These little mini brides will scatter flower petals like the flower girls but will be decorated in a full white dress with train and matching veil.

Junior Bridesmaids Dresses
Junior Bridesmaids are a mid step between the flower girl and bridesmaid. They range from 12-15 and are usually more in line with the bridesmaids as not to play down the ages of a sensitive age. The junior bridesmaid will often closely match the bridesmaids while keeping in mind a more modest cut to preserve the age appropriate look.

Top Name Girl's Dress Designers
Today's leading designers in children's formal wear come from Los Angeles, California. It seems counter intuitive since so many factories are producing garments in the Philippines and Turkey. China and Korea produce fine quality fabric for pennies to the dollar in America, but yet American made formal wear has found a competitive market on its own home turf. The internet has been a huge help to making American manufacturers stay in business and thrive. Online retailers have played a role in spreading the styles, names, and designs of small manufacturers who produce far less in number than mass produced factories, but can devote the time to creativity and quality. Names like Sweet Kids, Cinderella Couture, KiKi Kids, and Kids Time have emerged as leading crafts makers able to compete with the bigger more expensive designers like US Angels. |
